Farm Stay at Stone & Thistle Farm in the Catskills

Guests enjoy the first-floor suite in the 1863 Greek Revival farmhouse or the Farmhand Cabin. The suite has a private entrance and backyard and includes a bedroom with a queen size bed, private bath and library, refrigerator, microwave oven and coffee station. Roll-out single beds can be set up in the attached library to accommodate 2 other persons.

The Farmhand Cabin is located a short distance from the farmhouse overlooking Kortright Creek. The Cabin accommodates up to two adults and two small children. To accommodate additional persons (no more than four), you may bring a tent or a tent is provided for a fee. The Cabin is open year round.

Guests may opt to participate in a guided tour of the farm and lend a hand with farm chores (1 to 1˝ hours). Farm chores, depending on the season, may include collecting eggs, bottle feeding kid goats, feeding and watering chickens, rabbits and pigs, moving the sheep or dairy goats with the border collies or milking a goat. Rates Farmhouse Suite: $187 per night (1-2 persons). $10 each additional person or child (up to 2 additional persons). The suite has a coffee maker, electric kettle, mini fridge and microwave and is stocked with coffee, tea, creamer and sugar. Single futons are available in the attached library suite to accommodate 2 other persons (best for children). Open year round.

Farmhand Cabin: $142 per night (1-2 persons). $10 each additional child (up to 2 additional children). The cabin has electricity and is equipped with an electric heater/fan, toaster oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, electric kettle, cooking equipment, dishes and silverware. The cabin has an outdoor hot/cold water sink, hot water shower and compost toilet. Open May to November, depending on the weather.

Call 607-278-5800 or email us at warren@stoneandthistlefarm.com. Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of deposit equal to one night's charge. Please ask us about meals or farm programs such as Morning Tours & Chores, Farmer for a Day or Field and Kitchen Private Workshops.

Cancellations Last-minute cancellations allow us limited opportunities to re-book the Farmhouse Suite or Farmhand Cabin. Your deposit will be refunded in full if the cancellation is made at least twenty six days prior to arrival. For cancellations within twenty six days of arrival, no refund will be made unless we are able to rebook.

Smoking: Not permitted anywhere inside farmhouse, farm buildings or on the farm. Smoking is permitted outside on the patio adjacent to Fable.

Minimum Stay: Two night stay required. Three night stay required on holiday weekends.

CHECK-IN: 3 - 9pm. We are a small, working farm. Late arrivals are very disruptive. We wake up before sunrise, so we go to bed early. There is a $35 late arrival fee for arrivals after 10pm. If you get delayed in traffic or lost, we would appreciate a call or email to let us know your arrival time.

CHECK-OUT: 11 am

Pets: Sorry no guest pets.

Communication: Cell phone service is limited. Wi-Fi is available in the Farmhouse Suite.

Farm Dogs: Dogs are part of our farm family. While the dogs are not allowed in the guest area or restaurant, guests must be comfortable with working dogs on the farm property.

Location: Located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, 35 minutes south of Cooperstown, 20 minute drive from Oneonta or Delhi and 3˝ hour drive from New York City/Brooklyn. Minutes away from area attractions such at the West Kortright Centre, Hanford Mill Museum, Harmony Hill Retreat and Pine Lake Environmental Center.


DINING
Breakfast
The Breakfast Bag includes farm made muffins, granola, yogurt, hard boiled eggs or quiche, fruit, orange juice, milk. $12 person.

Lunch
Picnic basket lunches are available for $25 person.

Dinner
Private meals are available for you to enjoy in the Farmhouse Suite's back yard or in the library or delivered to the Farmhand Cabin or in Fable, if available. Five courses for $75 per person or $55 per person for three courses.

The Grazing Board
Savor a platter of our farm-made sausage, pâté, local cheese, savory dips, fresh fruit and vegetables, pickled veggies, nuts and chutney. Cost is $25 per person. Regional wine included for $18.

Farm Tour
Tour and Chores (For Farm Stay Guests Only)
Tour the working grass-fed livestock farm. Visit sheep, cattle, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese and horses. Collect eggs. Hold chicks. Bottle feed lambs. Cuddle kid goats. Milk a goat. Groom horses. See the border collies work. Activities vary with the weather/season. By appointment. Farmer for a Day Looking for a fun and unique family activity? Discover what it’s like to be a Farmer for a Day- $250 for a half day, includes lunch.

Field and Kitchen Private Workshops
Unique, hands-on private experiences of farming, cooking and eating. You put together the group and choose your date- Field and Kitchen Workshops.

Horseback Riding: Bring your horse on a farm stay. The horse barn can accommodate 2 horses. Hay and water provided. $25 night. Ride on our quiet, country roads or the local parks and trails that welcome horseback riders. Bear Spring Mountain state park in Downsville, a park designed for riders that boasts miles of horse-accessible trail and 24 horse-tie stalls. The 26-mile, multiuse Catskill Scenic Trail from Bloomville to Roxbury is another good spot for horseback riding, as is the Parksville Rail Trail near Liberty.
